Hi All,
I did not introduce myself when I joined. I will be returning to grad school this fall at UW-Madison for a masters in Educational Leadership. In my teaching career, I've taught at several schools--mostly as a middle school science teacher: the Indian Community School of Milwaukee, University Lake School (WI), The School at Columbia University, Ethical Culture Fieldston School (NYC) and the Latin School of Chicago. I look forward to learning and sharing from everyone on here.
My name is John Miller and I am currently the Middle School Principal at Rutgers Preparatory School. Previously, I was the the Head of the American School of Durango in Durango, Mexico. I entered the teaching profession as one of the first recruits of Teach for America back in 1990 and taught two years in Lynwood, California. I am very interested in international education, bilingual education and information literacy.
Hi everyone, I have been working in education for almost 20 years. I've been very involved in tech ed in the last 10. I blog pretty regularly and work hard to share the benefits of Web 2.0 tools with my colleagues. I am moving into a new job as the Director of Academic Technology for an independent school. I am very excited to be moving in to a leadership position. I am also excited and interested to see what it is like to work in an independent school - I've have worked in public schools for my entire career.
Hi I am going to "stop following" this now...forgot to click the box!
Hi, I'm a third grade teacher in Kensington, Maryland which is just outside of Washington, D.C. I strive each day to meet the needs of digital natives. I have big dreams and lots of hope. (I wish, therefore I am...)
Hello, I'm Juliusz. I'm a IT teacher in LO Zywiec High School, Poland.

I Liceum Ogólnokształcące (I Grammar School) in Żywiec was founded in 1904 and since 1911 has been based in the same ancient building. Today it is a large, modern school with respect for tradition.

At present there are over 1000 students aged between 16 and 19, grouped in classes with focus on various subjects, e.g. Maths-Physics classes, Computer classes, Biology-Chemistry classes, Arts classes etc.

We possess a wide range of teaching facilities. There are three LAN-connected computer labs, equipped with computers of high standard; 60 computers have constant Internet access. There is a computerised library (over 20,000 books), a Biology lab, a Chemistry lab, a Physics lab, a Geography lab, a History classroom, a few language classrooms and 3 gym halls. In the school year 2007/2008 the School Astronomical Observatory was opened in the building's attic, which came into being thanks to the generosity of the sponsors and which makes it possible to observe the Sun, the Moon and planets.

For many years the good quality of the school's work has been proved by our achievements, including successes in high rank contests and competitions, as well as by the excellent results of the annual school leavers' examinations called Matura.

We have managed to familiarise our students with Europe and the opportunities of benefiting from EU educational projects. For a few years we have been actively participating in student exchanges with young people from Unterhaching, Germany. Within the YOUTH PROJECT we cooperated with a school from Wicklow, Ireland. Within the EU Programme SOCRATES COMENIUS we organised a student exchange with students from Stockholm, Sweden, which is to be continued this year. Also, within Socrates, we hosted a language assistant in the school year 2006/2007.

In the future we wish to continue familiarising our students with the idea of common Europe and show them the opportunities they have been given since Poland became a member of the EU.

We have a School Photo Club: Link

If you want to cooperate with us please write to me juliusz@lo-zywiec.pl

Hello! I am the Co-Director of the middle and upper school library at Norfolk Academy in Norfok, Virginia. I am excited to join this ning and look forward to many interesting discussions.
Hi,

My name is CD McLean and I am the library dept. chair at Berkeley Prep School in Tampa, FL. The library staff's mission going forward is to provide more support for our technology department and our faculty to ensure that technology is used appropriately and creatively. We are very interested in using blogs, wikis and podcasts in the classroom. Additionally, our upper division director is very supportive of videoconferencing. We are looking for partners with which to videoconference as well.

I head up the high school program, but also serve on the curriculum committee. We are very interested in seeing how information literacy and media literacy skills are taught in other independent schools.

I look forward to following the discussions.

My name is Debbie Dominguez and I am a school director at Park Tudor School and also the Director of Technology. Our technology team underwent a series of changes in the last couple of years and I have been working with them to successfully change their image within the school community. Our teachers have been so enthusiastic to see the technology coordinators work side by side with them in the classroom and the small steps we've made toward more mobile labs has been met with some positive results this year.
Hi everyone. I am Director of Information Services at Lower Canada College (LCC) in Montreal. Some of you may know my name in previous positions as a consultant / business analyst at LEARN or with a global company providing student information solutions. I am glad to be back in an independent school setting once again and back in the classroom, as I teach a grade 10 level biology class. My role at LCC is to oversee all information services but with a focus of creating and implementing a 21st century learning environment while optimizing information workflow to reduce our carbon footprint, with suitable data warehouse solutions. I have extensive experience with many OSS /Web 2.0 tools and their impact in teaching and learning. I will enjoy interacting and learning from within this forum as well. Regards.
