Independent School Educators network

I can't wait to get started! Having said that, I read Laurie's directions and went to sign in (already being a member) and of course, could not remember my password. Yes! it is true, so I ask the group: how is one to get started and how is one to manage all these groups and exchanges if one can't remember her (or his)... and shouldn't use the same... password?

Hi Ginny,

Great to see your entry! No surprise to me that you'd discover the start of Digital Wave before it gets noted on school email :-)

A helpful feature is that most online communities have a link to click on the log in screen if you have forgotten your password.

As for password protocol, I have taken to using one basic password for all online activities. I modify the password, as needed, to accommodate length requirements or if the system tells me the password needs to be more complex. No matter what, my password includes text and numbers intermingled.

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Laurie
Yes, I went to the link and got a new password... and I do use a combination of text and numbers when creating my passwords. I also keep a list of all my passwords filed, even locked away. Every workshop I've attended has warned against using one basic password for all online activities; I am surprise by your doing so... and somewhat encouraged by that fact. If I can simplify and consolidate my passwords, what a happy and better-able-to-remember person I might be!
I will annotate my first reply and say that I use one basic password (occasionally slightly modified) for all of my school and professional online activities. My online banking uses a completely different password.

Cheers, Laurie
Well, hello! :-)

I also use the same password (with some modification also) for online activities, and a different one for banking. What I do is email the passwords to myself (scrambled with a code I know.)

On another note: What I we getting started on?
Hi Elvira,

Ah ha :-) we are getting started on Digital Wave's introduction to building your own Personal Learning Network!

You can read more about it here.

Come join us!

Cheers, Laurie
