I was wondering if any one has FaWeb on the same server with either of the primary databases. If you do I'd love to know how it is working, what your server specs are and if you would choose to do it again if you had the choice. We are wondering about trying to consolidate a couple of servers.

Thank you,

We've had RE up for a couple of years and are just implementing EE right now. I have them all on the same server.

1) FE and EE use the same database (with EE as the 'add-on' application), so they play very well. [NOTE: I suspect that BB is doing this because of the (correct) perception that their products are not so seamless as people see in Senior Systems.]

2. I did create a separate instance of the FE-EE database than the RE database. This is good because you'll want to separate the start-up process, so that you don't have to shut the EE people down when working on FE or vise versa.

Our servers are new as I just installed them last summer. We have an HP C7000 Blade Enclosure with BL460C blades (actually one for the BB products) and a MSA 2012 SAN with 4.6TB in a mixture of SAS (for databases) and SATA (for files) drives.
We have EE/FE and RE on the same server and FAweb and NetClassroom on another - web server. I don't think you would want either of your primary databases on a web server for security reasons. We've done it this way for 9 years, first on physical machines and now virtual ones. They run well as such.

We subscribe to the same doctrine as Linda -- being sure to keep our production databases (RE/EE) isolated and secure - not exposed on the web server that hosts FAWeb.
