Independent School Educators network

Just came across this instructive article at Edutopia that outlines strategies for differentiating instruction. It's great to see specific skills broken down into understandable ideas:

1. Deliver Instruction through Multiple Forms of Media
2. Gather and Use Immediate Feedback on Students' Understanding
3. Give Students Options
4. Automate Basic-skills Practice
5. Practice Independent Work Skills
6. Pretest Students' Knowledge Before Each Unit
7. Create a Weekly "Must Do" and "May Do" List
8. Share the Work of Creating Differentiated Lessons
9. Be Flexible When Plans Go Awry
10. Let Students Drive

The thing that strikes me about most of these is that they have a direct entry-point for the use of technology. In other words they illustrate how to use technology well for the purpose of differentiating instruction.

What other strategies do you have (regardless of whether they use tech)?
