Ok, school year's getting back in motion so I thought I'd start providing some updates and insights on using Google Apps for Education in a school environment. We have all staff members using Google mail accounts and are beginning this year with our school Intranet running through a series of Google Sites for the various department and needs areas.

One of the observations already has been the ease at which the system is picked up by the more technical users. I have had four teachers already jump on creating their own classroom sites and customize them for the school year.

A policy issue arose as to how access would be provided to the classroom web sites and the decision was made that any parent who wished access to the class web site would email the teacher who would then provide the parent view access to the site. It seems to be a fair solution with the side benefit of monitoring access and usage levels.

We are going to roll out Google apps as our messaging service this summer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
