Hi Ben,
There is also a conversation here about SmartBoards. In addition, please feel free to leave a message for Mary Cavallero. She is a math teacher at my school and makes much use of the board.
Cheers, Laurie

Is this discussion still going on? Has it migrated to another forum?! I'm looking for examples of using it that aren't fancy versions of math-munchers.

We are currently working with several vendors in order to choose an interactive whiteboard for our new school. At this time, we are looking to purchase 60 boards so vendors have been quite willing to demo their products.
The SmartBoard has many appealing options but a lot of costly add-ons (their document camera is PRICEY...). I also felt like the "notebook" was a lot of drag, drop, cut and paste with a good coat of paint. I wonder about the functionality of all of its abilities. During the demo, I felt like I was looking at a PowerPoint rather than an interactive tool.

We are looking at the eno from Poly Vision and the Promeathean products afterward. To me, and in keeping with our "green" school, the eno board has a total leg-up environmentally. I am hoping it can also shine in terms of performance.

One of the most interesting things that has come up in our discussions is the SmartTable. Nifty interactive tool for younger kids, students with disabilities. Comes with a HEFTY tag of nearly $8k...we are hoping to acquire one for a trial in coming weeks (which I will share here).

My vote is with eno at the moment. Will post more when I have more info...

Am thinking of starting a new discussion for sharing information from the sessions that will take place at a Smart Board conference we are hosting on June 9. This comment is just an experiment to see if Notebook files can be uploaded (and then successfully downloaded) from the Ning.
Cheers, LaurieChunks 1.notebook
