Our music teacher has tried several things with regard to amplification of the sound from iPads. Projection through Apple TV has not worked as their as a slight delay which has a significant impact in a music class where tempo and timing are critical. These are the suggestions that Mr. Carey gave: I have two suggestions regarding speakers:
If the iPad needs to be handled during playback, here is what we now have (we use them for playback using virtual Garageband instruments...4 AAA battery powered or plug in...snaps to back of each unit, with built in "kick stand"):drawback: the speaker actually points backward, so audio and volume level can be very diminished.Otherwise, I would suggest any "bullet" style rechargeable such as this:If timing and tempo aren't as critical, he does have other suggestions available over wifi:In addition here are some wireless options:a bluetooth speaker:displaying the iPad and sound through a television using apple tv:or using an airport wireless base station and connecting some computer speakers to it (see second picture):

Karen - we hook ours up to our classroom sound system, but I have also used an iHome speaker. You can pick one up at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $20...http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17035550
Works really well and it is portable.

Has anyone been successful with amplifying the sound from the iPad? I am looking for a way to play back student created projects so that the entire class can hear it.
