Our spring break is next week. I am reading for pleasure and profession. Pleasure: finishing Hugo Cabret, startingThe thirteenth tale by Diane Setterfield, The book of other people edited by Zadie Smith, Brother, I am dying by Edwidge Danticat, and for professional reading: a variety of articles on cultural competency. OK, I may not get through all of this. But is is thrilling to have the books with me and to think that I can at least give it a stab. I also have some good bottles of wine. Reading in a hot bath with a glass of wine and one of cold water is just too fine. I'll be in the beautiful Texas hill country. Aaahhh...

What are you reading and where are you reading during spring break?

A belated reply....but the spring break reading is well under way!

I have a 15 year old daughter, who keeps me in touch with the good YA fiction. I just finished reading three novels by Jeanne Duprau: "City of Ember", "People of Sparks" and "Prophet of Yowood". It's post-apocalyptical series (the last is a prequal). The first title is the strongest, but they were good thought provoking reads. My daughter also recommended "Persepolis: the story of a childhood" by Marjane Satrapi. We saw the movie, then I read the graphic novel.

Last night I finished "Free for all: oddballs, geeks and ganstas in the public library" by Don Borchert, a blast from the past for this former public library director. "Fast Food Nation" (for a bookgroup) and "How Doctors think" are also in my bedside pile.

Happy Reading!
