Lynda.com has some great training videos on Moodle v1.9, including setting up and using the gradebook. It might be worth getting a one-month subscription ($25) to show the video to faculty and any other relevant ones.

We are rolling out Moodle this year to replace Blackboard. I am frantically trying to get up to speed to lead a faculty training next week. In posting, I am asking faculty to go through the trouble of posting in such a way that their posts will be pushed to the Gradebook. I am hoping the version 1.9 Gradebook will replace other grading software and standardize our reporting of grades. Does anybody know if the 1.9 Gradebook on Moodle is worth all this trouble?

I need to develop some introductory training for our staff in September and I am just learning about it myself. Any tips/resources for developing an introductory level training module?

I haven't used Moodle yet, but I've been looking at it with a view to using it as part of a collaborative learning project.

I've been using Moodle for 1.5 years. I'd like to discuss it with people who are experienced or not alike.

Have not read it, Michael, but all reviews sound like it's appropriate for 8th grade at least; maybe advanced 7th grade readers. It seems like there are a lot of layers to this book, some of which may require some frontloading discussions or activ...

I liked Geraldine Fabrikant's 11/7 NYT article, Prep Schools Face Cuts in Student Aid, but to me it is not the most compelling story of the intersection between independent schools and the struggling US economy. To me the most compelling story is...

I would love to get some feedback about this book and whether you all feel it is appropriate for late 7th grade/8th grade readers.

Let's share the titles of books our kids are currently enjoying. What books won't they put down? Any suggestions for readers in grades 6, 7 or 8?

Joe, I watched the video last night. My reading of his talk is that Cowen is just cautioning us to be aware of how much our minds are wired to fit -often inaccurately- the inputs we are getting from the world into stories. In a nutshell, we need t...
