This video shows a web-based student response system called Ink Survey.

This video appears on Jim Vanides' blog that came to my attention via Tami who bookmarked it to the Diigo group for tablets. (thanks!)

Jim says, "If you're looking for a quick way to try "real time graphical response" in your course, feel free to give InkSurvey a try. If you're looking for something free but with more features, I recommend Classroom Presenter (Richard Anderson, University of Washington). For a robust, full-featured classroom interaction solution with full support from a commercial company, I highly recommend DyKnow"

Have you tried any of these systems? I've used DyKnow and really liked it, but I think it requires committed faculty professional development to justify the cost. Perhaps InkSurvey or Classroom Presenter would be a good introductory step towards a more interactive tablet-enabled classroom?

Demetri,
We haven't tried this yet, but it looks promising. I agree that Dyknow is fabulous, but my school just can't justify the cost. We're still looking at Synchroneyes (now Smart Sync?) as an option. It gives many of the popular features of Dyknow at a fraction of the price.
Hopefully, I'll find something with the features we'd like at a price we can afford by May :-)

We have been using Synchoneyes- not sure if Smart SYnc is different but it doesn't offer any off site interaction. in fact we have had considerable difficult since we changed to virtual v-lans which separate out faculty from students. If I log on using my tablet, I am in the faculty v-lan and the students can't access my class. As I said, not sure it Smart Sync is more web oriented.

Thanks for sharing this. We also use separate VLANS for kids/faculty. We'll definitely check on this before we purchase to make sure we can resolve it.
SmartSync is a newer version of Synchronize.

We are using SynchronEyes here at Odyssey. We are using it in the lab with wired desktops and wirelessly with our tablets. It does have a "quiz" feature (yes/no response). I can observe (monitor) student computers or control them. I can project student desktops on the SmartBoard. I can distribute files to students and students can send me files (although I haven't tried this feature). I can block certain websites and applications or make only certain applications available to students. We are really just beginning to explore the possibilities. I am using SynchronEyes with all my students, not just the tablet students.

We have a number of teachers using Classroom Presenter - especially in math. They LOVE it. I've watched from the back of the room a few times - students have been really engaged. It is easy to use and learn. Two teachers gave a quick demo at a recent faculty meeting - there was a very positive response from quite a number of teachers.

We also looked at DyKnow. It is a good product but just too expensive.
