Ten quick ways to get started...
1. Filling out the
profile questions gives
people a sense of who you are. We
encourage
you to
upload your
photo to your profile, and you can
update your status whenever
you stop by.
2. You can introduce yourself in the "
Introductions"
forum. Reading through this forum is also a nice way to learn about
many of the other members who are here. Feel free to "reply" to
their introductions or leave comments on their pages!
4. Join some of the
interest groups. There
are groups for
subject
areas,
grade
levels,
administrators,
and for
schools
(
create a
group for your school if there is not already one!)
5. Look through the
members list
to find someone you know and invite them to be your colleague, or
write comments on their pages, or send them private messages. Or
... find someone you don't know and invite them to be your
colleague! (Read their profile to learn a bit about them and try
leaving a friendly note or starting a conversation.)
6. Invite or
email three colleagues who are not in this online community,
but might enjoy being part of the conversation.
7. Express an opinion by writing
a
blog post or comment on
other
people's blogs. Take this opportunity to articulate something
that is important to you and may be of interest to others, or share
a story about a teaching or learning experience you’ve had!
8.
Browse discussions by categories or
search discussions for topics,
and respond with your thoughts.
Start a new discussion if you have a
question or are curious about something.
9.
Upload or
embed some of your favorite educational
images or photos, or if you’ve made a video or a podcast,
upload it here! View and comment on others'
videos,
photos, or podcasts.
10. Check the
Events listing for upcoming
conferences, or visit
Learning Events or
Tapped In for live online events. Feel free to
add an event if you know of an upcoming conference that is not
already listed.
11.
Share a document
or file that has helped you, and that may be useful to others
(upload documents as attachments to discussions or blog posts.)
