Sowing the SEED of Change

I'm still abuzz following Friday's SEED conference in Chicago. Billed as a "one-day conference on design, entrepreneurship, and inspiration," SEED delivered an enthralling, personal look at how creative visionaries have fused their passion with a boatload of talent and elbow grease to change the business landscape of the 21st century.

Carlos Segura of Segura, Inc. spoke eloquently about the need for… Continue

Hi Curt,

For some reason, I couldn't leave a comment on your post. I wanted to tell you I DO agree with you on both counts. But I especially agree that IT folks need to be accorded leadership roles within the admin structure of school, and far too often, that doesn't happen. Thanks for sharing this. Sorry I didn't run into you at NAIS.

Thanks, Curt! We did get very lucky -- our superintendent and principal found a MS/HS Tech coordinator at the UNI fair in Iowa and a HS Tech Teacher at the ISS fair in New York. So I'm all set for next year! It's going to be a great team! We're at a very interesting stage in our program and need folks who can think outside the box, love to "play" with technology and are able to work with kids.

As with so many things in technology, I asked Demetri and, of course, he knew, and made it happen. Don't know what he did and probably should have asked him.

I was enthralled by some of the answers you received to your ISED query about changing titles and duties. Your candor in posting it was also a breath of fresh air and a welcome change from the usual nuts and bolts posts. Good luck as you think that all through.
