I am very interested in connecting my third grade students with students across the globe.  I think children really engage in learning when they can share it with others!  How awesome would it be if…Continue

"Wow, the kids did this in 30 minutes and hadn't even used the app before?  I am blown away too!  Let's see, flexibility in exchange for some great engagement?  Or do I follow the rules and stick with my lesson plan? …"

iPads, movies and writing...Connected?

It is a crazy world when you really stop and think about how 8 year old children can create their own movies within a thirty minute class.  Even crazier when you realize they learn the iPad app AND create their movie in that thirty minutes!  I did this in my third grade classroom this week!  I wanted to teach my children how to do book trailers on their tablets, and I wanted to get them involved in designing their own creative process on their machines.I…See More

Using Today's Meet to Connect Globally

These days there are many ways to connect with others.  Phone call. Text. Email. Social networking.  Which way can make a classroom full of eager students willing to "buy in" to make learning real?  I witnessed a complete change in my third grade students one day during history class.  We were going down the road to complete sleepiness, when I got a  crazy idea.  Why not use the iPads to connect with each other?  Yes, that's right!  Why not use a website to "talk" to the person sitting two feet…See More

Connecting Classrooms using Today's Meet

I am very interested in connecting my third grade students with students across the globe.  I think children really engage in learning when they can share it with others!  How awesome would it be if we could connect on Today's Meet and allow them to share experiences from their classroom?  I have found it to be challenging to navigate times and schedules when trying to Skype, but Today's Meet does not have to be a live discussion.  It could be like a museum gallery of classroom adventures…See More
