Best of luck with your strategic planning. It sounds like you have a well-thought out process planned. Here are a couple of Disrupting Class resources we found useful to share with our faculty: http://educationnext.org/how-do-we-transform-our-scho

Hi, We do enforce it and the period of time is 10 minutes. I'd like for it to be shorter, but the faculty screamed about it as it is. They just can't imagine our little darlings doing anything like snooping. Good success, Sister Elizabeth Powhata…

Any replies to this query, Demetri? The LFCDS Development Office is looking to set up a Facebook presence and wants to know policy best/practice from other schools.

At my previous school (boarding high school), we enforced automatic screen locking after a ~15 minute period of inactivity on all faculty and staff to protect the integrity of confidential and sensitive information to which their accounts had access…

Had to smile when I saw the reference to the PET computer. It was the first computer I used, programmed my own BASIC apps, and saved them to a cassette tape... :)

Keith, when you purchase IT hardware and/or software do you bundle your requirements with other schools to help reduce costs. All of the schools here in South Carolina buy individually and thus receive no quantity discounts. I have not run across any schools that bundle requirements.

The PET! I never actually used one of those. This is a Macquarium a friend made for me out of an old SE. He sprayed it with Stone-It texturizer, so the color is a bit off of the original model.

Totally diggin' the photo, Keith. The Mac Classic - I loved those things! I wish I had a picture in front of the Commodore PET that we used in our 6th grade class back in the day!

Thanks for your input! We have a liberal filtering policy which only blocks, porn, gambling and hate sites. My teachers have been upset because they do not want to be the Facebook "police". We set up a disciplinary OU that restricts access to any fu…

We don't block facebook at our school. I actually just did a history research paper with my students where they created Facebook fan pages for early 19th century reformers. Anyway, during class, when kids are using their computers, I circle around t…

How are our discussions about safety on the internet evolving as students (and adults) become increasingly connected through social networking and other means? Have we changed our tone, and how?
