replacing the US History textbook

When the annual question comes up as to whether it's time to replace the textbook we use in US History, my real wish is not to find a better textbook but to do away with the textbook completely.  I teach a year-long survey taken mostly by juniors, and I have found a few books that can replace large swaths of a textbook.
