Document management and retention

I'm looking for any and all information on what everyone is doing about document management and retention. Specifically are you using a piece of software, if so what?  Are you using fire proof file cabinets?  Are you storing things off cite? And is there ANYTHING I've overlooked as a solution to this problem?See More

This was discussed a couple of years ago, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any advise regarding PaperSave and Blackbaud since 2009.  Is anyone else using it?  If so how do you like it, is it worth the cost?See More

Good to know. I've been working with Equus. They import directly from China and resell to wholesalers and such here. Jim Lewis is my rep. I'm sure he'd be competitive with CDW. Here's his info:

Hi Sr Elizabeth,

Here are the specs for our server. As I mentioned, we run other stuff besides Moodle on this server. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

HP ProLiant DL380
Two 3.4 GHz Xeon processors
3 GB RAM
Four 72.8 GB SCSI HDDs (one is a spare)
Dual GB NICs

Running Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4
Apache 2.2.3
PHP 5.1.6
MySQL 5.0.24
Moodle 1.9

Hi Sr Elizabeth,

I will get you the specs, but you should know that we don't have a whole server dedicated to Moodle. We run a fair bit of other stuff on it as well. Moodle doesn't require a whole server. I've emailed our net admin, and I'll get you the specs of what we're running it on and post back to you.

Have a good day!
Bob

Hi Sister,

Citrix was already in place at Whitfield so it made sense to use it as a tool to help leverage Linux. There are other terminal service tools but if you intend to use it as your primary tool for Windows Apps, make sure it automatically load balances across multiple servers. We have found most applications run well under Citrix. Blackbaud is a good example of a program that runs very poorly under Citrix. The Blackbaud client is a beast. The memory requirements of Blackboard are simply out of control. We had to move away from Blackbaud because the maintenance and hardware costs simply didn't make sense for us anymore.

Our academic administrators are on Linux. Our business office is still on Windows. Most of our development team is on Linux now. We use SUSE Linux. I like it a little better than Ubuntu and it comes with Enterprise support from Novell.
