P2PU Open Learning

I've recently finished a 6-week course, free and online, on Writing and the Common Core. Led by Bud Hunt, we wrote, shared ideas, and dug deep into the Common Core Standards. I realize we independent school folks don't need to follow the CCS, but I do believe we should be…See More

I'm a fan of Powerful Learning Practice. I went through the year-long program, and now I work for them. So I wanted to share with you our new opportunity--ecourses. Hope Demetri won't mind this short advertisement:)

We have some great folks lined up to teach, too (Kevin Jarrett is the first!)

NECC Reflections

I posted a reflection here on my blog. Great to meet so many ISENET-ers there, and to attend my first SIG, too. I am still trying to unpack all the ideas that floated in and out of my brain.
Putting all of that into practice is the next step. Lots to think about as I use social media even more to connect with my students and their families.

Learning from higher ed

My RSS feed includes several bloggers from higher ed, both professors and technology specialists. English professor Gardner Campbell, recently at nearby UMW but moving to Baylor, speaks eloquently about "the digital imagination" as well as how networks enable collective, creative leaning (and much more). New read Britt Watwood, an online learning specialist at… Continue

Who owns the learning?

I was reading PJ Higgins' blog this morning, and he is pondering essential questions for a class.

He says, "What I am struggling with, and I think it’s a struggle that all teachers and administrators will face in the coming years, is convincing and working with teachers to learn alongside their students, to model their practice for them, to fail in front of them, and to resurrect themselves in front of… Continue

All is well. Kids are growing like weeds. Skylar now 6 is finishing up Kindergarten, Jackson is in PK4 and Tristan is now fully engulfed in the terrible two's. SO LIFE is GOOD. Can't wait to see you in the summer.

Keep in touch.

Hey Susan--great Diigo on the Speak Out post. I'm going back to that one tomorrow (I've taken a benedryl and am a little foggy right now). It looks really good, and I've been thinking it was time to focus my attention on the national level--something we in Independent schools don't always do.

Hey Susan - I saw your twitter yesterday about GoogleApps and I wanted to pick your brain. We (I) am thinking about signing my teachers up (and maybe even students) for GoogleApps but not using the email. Is that what you have done? any word of wisdom? suggestions? You can email me at plennig [at}gmail[dot]com

Well, hello Susan Morgan! Thanks for saying hi. I too noticed that I was not the only Susan Morgan on the ning as I signed up. This looks like it will provide for a lot of relevant discussions. I look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Susan,
I bet his name was Greg Schneider, who is now the Headmaster at Berwick Academy in Maine.
Ooops, this is short as we're off for a walk before it gets too dark. Here's to a delicious Thanksgiving with, perhaps, some time for relaxing :-)
Cheers, Laurie
