Top 10 Ways to Keep Meetings On Track

1. Require meetings to start and stop on time.

2. Ensure that there is an agenda distributed in advance.

3. Estimate a time frame for each agenda item and stick to it.

4. Don't use meeting time to pass around or present information; this should be done ahead of time via email. Meetings are for discussion and…

Do you all see innovative ways that this is being taught in schools? Do you have ideas about how we could use… Continue

Shrink the bottled water industry - a great project for indy schools

The Story of Bottled Water http://bit.ly/9ULcP7

Looking for a database that represents records as objects located in a virtual 3D space

I'm looking for a program/database that represents records as objects located in a virtual 3D space, with the XYZ position of objects being determined by attributes of the records represented by the objects.

See more on this idea here:… Continue

One of the sessions I attended at the NAIS conference was "Building School Websites Around Participation" presented by Proctor School and Travis Warren of Whipple Hill. I was glad Proctor was presenting because I'd come across their site in a different context last month and was really impressed with their use of social media. The premise of their site, and of the presentation is that school websites have moved into a third generation of measuring engagment. The first generation was static…

Hyperthreading vs. Multitasking

Csikszentmihalyi's "Flow States"

Recent research seems to validate that humans can only focus on one thing at a time. This comes up in response to the assertion that "digital natives" learn differently and by doing many things at once (e.g. studying while instant-messaging, texting, and listening to…
