Independent School Educators network

connect - discuss - collaborate

If you haven't yet explored shared bookmarking it's well worth it. The video "social bookmarking in plain english" does a nice job of explaining the concept.

* access your bookmarks from any computer (they're no longer tied to just one computer)
* share your bookmarks with others and see what others are bookmarking
* you apply "tags" (keywords) to sites as you bookmark them, and then can search based on everyone's "tags" which leads to finding interesting sites
* you can join "groups" of users which send you email updates of new links on that topic

I also just found out that Diigo is now offering free "educator" accounts so that you can easily create accounts for classes of students to do shared bookmarking. This should really facilitate that process.

If you're looking for a few good groups to join on diigo, check these out:
*Independent school educators
*web2.0
*project based learning
*teaching with tablets
*green school

Diigo users- What others would you recommend?

I have our sixth graders set up with my educator account. We've used Diigo for research some and to practice reading strategies with online text. i can't recommend Diigo enough.

I have been using diigo education accounts with my ninth-graders. They are in the beginning stages of learning how to annotate their bookmarks and share resources. I see great potential here!

Here is the video: I have been finding twitter to be one of my best professional resources, with so many serendipitous links to interesting resources. Similarly, there are a variety of groups on Diigo that I belong to and gain a lot from. I also...

I realize I'm "preaching to the choir" by posting here, because if you are a member of this ning, you are probably also a member of other nings. And, you probably have a Twitter page and/or a Facebook page, etc. So, what's my intent? I'm hoping th...
