A new building toy for curvy architecture!

I submitted an idea for a new building toy to Quirky (http://www.quirky.com) in late August and they chose to consider trying to develop it into a product.

They are currently looking for some input about how to market the building toy. Any input from ISEneters using the link below would be much appreciated.

An Open Letter to Steve Jobs

I've been working on ideas for the Online Progressive School this week. Took a little break from that to write this open letter to Steve Jobs.

Very much enjoying the unstructured free time that a long break brings.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for the welcome! I might start up a blog or discussion forum on this site...some interesting things happening, or on the verge of happening, at MLC re: technology.

check that request, Fred. I just found it...using Google Search instead of the Ning's search: http://isenet.ning.com/forum/topics/capturing-writing-to-video

This is GREAT. It is exactly what a teacher of ours would like to do.

Fred, I remember a really cool schematic that you posted for a tripod-like device to hold a flip camera for doing screen-cast like instructional videos. I've been digging around on the ISEN Ning and am unable to unearth it. Do you have a link??

Thanks,
Matt

I've already done that with one person I know is from a CA school, and I just sent an email to our PD Directors listserv telling them about this site.

Hi,
Yes, of course I know Barbara. In fact, I was planning to email her and our PD colleagues (who get together every year at NAIS) to let them know about this network because we've been talking about starting one of our own. What we do in California that is somewhat like what you do is this. We sponsor two programs annually which alternate regions in alternate years. For instance, the Regional Meeting is in the South this year. This is a one day gathering of 2000+ teachers and middle level administrators who come together at one of our K-12 schools to present and attend workshops (in three sessions) that are put on largely by other CAIS teachers. One of the 14 subject/grade level areas is Technology. Additionally, we bring in a Featured Speaker who presents in all three sessions. This year that speaker will be Rob Evans.

What is happening in the North this year is what we call the Professional Days. A half-to-full day workshop in each of the same 14 categories is planned and hosted by members of the Professional Services Committee in the region. This year the tech person on our Northern Professional Services Committee is hosting a day on the use of the SmartBoard. While use is becoming more and more widespread in our schools there is still a gap in knowledge re: how to use it effectively in the majority of our schools and teachers.

Hi, Fred, I'm just now getting around to looking at Ning and its educational use. Two of my language teachers plan to use it for their teaching this year. Believe it or not, I was introduced to it first by the Jr. High School that I worked at in New Orleans at least 20 years ago. It was destroyed during Katrina and they have established a ning to reconnect.

Hi Fred,

I am new to the group and have a question: What would be the best way to identify a teacher interested in having her/his class collaborate with my Ninth Grade World Religions Class on a technology-based project?

Thanks,
