Independent School Educators network

using social-networking technology for exploration, discussion, & collaboration

Well, maybe partially alive. I plan to post some observations and notes from the Lausanne Laptop conference at my main blog www.k12converge.com and here if possible.

To begin, I've been posting about my first year in London, a new Advent Netbook (MSI Wind) I starting using just 2 days ago, losing my luggage over the Atlantic, and reading Carol Dweck. (Drinking an entire carafe of coffee at iHop this morning may or may not have been a great idea.)

Meanwhile, I need a shave before the opening keynote this afternoon, so let's see if the remarkable United lost luggage team can delivery before the deadline! My conference presentation is tomorrow morning at 11 a.m., and I've posted a draft of the presentation powerpoint on my blog (link above). Let me know if you have comments or ideas-- don't forget to have a flexible mindset!!!

Jim

Hey Jim,
love the tag "scruffy" ...that's gotta be a first. So i tried to view the powerpoint, but my new tablet somehow missed the Office install, so I'll have to check it out tomorrow. You could install cutePDF. Say hi to my coworker Grey if you see him there. Any thought of uStreaming your preso?

Good advice. There is now a PDF version of the presentation at

http://www.k12converge.com/?p=262

Institute Update: I have absolutely nothing to say about the keynote.

Later conversations were very good. Lots of discussion of student information systems, Moodle, web portals, and the inter-relationship between online systems and laptop programs.

Hi Jim--I just posted the uStream link for the keynotes on my blog, and saw your post. I sat next to Colin Bridgewater from your school at dinner last night and enjoyed getting the chance to talk with him. Did your luggage arrive??

Sarah, thanks for putting up the uStream. I also know that Vinny Vrotny is live blogging events here at http://vvrotny.edublogs.org/ in far more detail than I will.

There was one keynote yesterday that I'd like to comment on, regarding technology change and connectivity and education from a corporate viewpoint. But, I haven't had time to compose yet....

But yes, my luggage did arrive, and my presentation went well yesterday. I need to post the final copy that had an additional topic at the end.

Thanks for the link--I found out that he was live blogging a panel I was on and had a contact who wanted my name but he didn't catch it. I left a comment with my info on the live blog. 2.0 rocks!
