Lower TCO and higher ROI for families/students is the appeal these solutions have for me. I still feel 1 to 1full on laptop programs are prohibitively expensive for the majority.
I do hope to attend Lausanne again Jim, but we'll have to see how it stacks up with the summer workload. TSS is a year round non profit with Residential Ed. groups all summer and along with supporting the work of TSS Wildlife Expeditions and the Conservation Research Center, I may have to take a break next year. Reminds me to get Stuart my new info soon.
London seems to suit you and I'm glad to hear that's the case. You both got lucky methinks...
Cheers!
Good to see you too, my friend. We are enjoying Wyoming very much. Takes a bit of getting used to (like you wouldn't know anything bout that...LOL). I feel I'm already making a great deal of difference here at TSS and that is making the transition somewhat easier. Excellent work going on here. Still interested in hearing about how yours is going...
I saw your interest in the OLPC thread/project and recall our discussion some 5 years ago about getting to this point and beyond. I will follow that one (and your take on it) with great interest.
Happy holidays to you and yours Jim!
It would be wonderful to coordinate a dinner at NAIS in NYC :) I'll put that dicussion up next week unless you beat me to it. thanks!
The one in the picture above is a Sigma 38 I sailed on the Solent with a sailing group. It competed in the Fastnet race this year (but needed new standing rigging afterwards). I regret not sailing when we lived in Maryland-- but I did take a Rainbow 24 out on the Chesapeake during a visit to the AIMS retreat a couple of years ago.
Sorry for the obscure Spinal Tap reference!

Cycling in London is fun, but today we just walked in Hampstead Heath and faced some of the craziness at Piccadilly Circus as my daughter had a party to attend there. We caught a glimpse of Michael Caine and Jude Law as they did the red carpet thing for opening of Sleuth at the Odeon West End.
Is there a list-serv or site for overseas schools? I'd like to pursue connecting to more international schools. Like Fred, I've also appreciated your blog and hearing about your experiences biking the streets of London :)
